Dr. Edisher Savitski 
Pianist Edisher Savitski has enjoyed critical acclaim throughout his career: “As each of Savitski’s convulsive trills and ominous chords would hang in the air, it became clearer that indeed something special was happening. We will be lucky to hear Scriabin played anywhere near this powerfully any time soon” (Jack Walton, South Bend Tribune). “The piano of Edisher Savitski prays, laments and also makes joyful sounds; This amazing Georgian simply takes off to the sky!” (Hanuh Ron, Yediot Akhronot, Israel).
He has been appearing as a soloist with: Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Pacific Symphony among many others, and has been performing at prestigious venues worldwide. To name a few: at Carnegie Zankel Hall and Carnegie Weill Hall, New York; Wigmore Hall, London; Great Hall of Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria; Mariinsky Theater, St. Petersburg,Russia; Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Italy as well as in other venues in USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, France, Russia, United Kingdom, Israel, Austria, Morocco, Japan and New Zealand.
Dr. Savitski has appeared at major music festivals such as Salzburg Festival, Austria; Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Ravinia Festival, USA; Ruhr Festival, Germany; Ravenna Festival, Stresa Festival, Maggio Musicale Festival in Florence, MITO Festival, Italy. His performances were also heard in Grande Auditorio at Temporada Gulbenkian de Musica in Lisbon, Portugal; at Teatro la Fenice, Venice; Stadt-Casino Musiksaal in Basel, Switzerland; Salle Cortot in Paris, France; at Dame Myra Hess series in Chicago; Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky festivals through Pittsburgh Symphony;
Edisher Savitski is the first prizewinner of the Third International Piano-E-Competition in 2006 and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in 2001, and took top prizes at the First International Piano-E-Competition in Minneapolis and the William S. Byrd International Piano Competition in Michigan.
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Dr. Edisher Savitski studied in central music school with Maya Beridze and later in the Tbilisi Conservatory with professor Nana Khubutia. During this time he became a prizewinner of the international charity program “New Names”, Russia, and won collaborative piano competition arranged at the Tbilisi State Conservatory.
In 1998 he joined the renowned Alexander Toradze Piano Studio at Indiana University South Bend, where he earned Masters degree, Artist diploma, and has been awarded with the Performers Certificate. In Spring 2013 he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from Michigan State University.
Currently Dr. Savitski is an assistant professor at the University of Alabama School of Music.

William DeVan
William DeVan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from The Juilliard School.  He continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Hannover, Germany, where he received the “Konzertexamen ” Diploma. He won the first prize in the international piano competition “Vianna Da Motta,” held in Lisbon, Portugal, while he was studying in Germany. He has performed in Europe, Australia, and Asia (six tours of China) in addition to his recitals and workshops in the United States.   DeVan’s repertoire includes the forty-eight Preludes and Fugues from the Well-Tempered Clavier of J.S. Bach; the  complete Chopin Etudes ; the complete Transcendental  Etudes of Liszt; and the 32 Sonatas of Beethoven.  He has been a Steinway Artist and Presenter since 1994.  He began a “Classics for Children” series in Birmingham, Alabama, and has subsequently performed the Classics for Children concerts throughout the United States under the sponsorship of Steinway.  He taught at the Third Street Music School in New York City from 2012 until 2014. His upcoming concerts are in Birmingham, Nashville and Paris, France.

Alabama native, Brandi Overbeck’s diverse vocal repertoire spans Broadway, Jazz, Pop, and Standards. Brandi studied classical voice on scholarship at Jefferson State Community College and was a soprano in the performing group “Jeff State Singers”. She has also studied with John Ray, currently at Belmont College and with Drama Desk Nominee, Linda Eder, who is currently performing nationwide. Last year, she appeared at Leeds Arts Council, ACTA Theatre, and Alabama Piano Gallery . Her most recent performance was at Leeds Arts Council singing the Hits of Broadway before the Golden Age including favorites from Judy Garland.

Kevin Grigsby Concert 4/23 at 3pm

Kevin Grigsby is excited to be performing at Alabama Piano Gallery.  He holds a Master of Science in Management from Troy University, a Master of Music from The University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor of Music from Birmingham-Southern College.  His primary piano teachers include Nancy Wingard, William DeVan, Jane Magrath, and E.L. Lancaster.  Kevin won numerous awards and competitions as a student and has been active in the Birmingham area art music scene since the mid-1990’s.  You may have heard him play in any number of music theater shows, ballet pit orchestras, or as an orchestral pianist with the Alabama Symphony. 
 
Kevin and his wife, Angela, have been married for 18 years.  Kevin is in the Commercial Marketing department at Alabama Power Company, where he has worked for 11 years.  He also plays piano each Sunday at First Baptist Church Trussville.  Angela works at AT&T and is an active volunteer in the community and for church events.  They have two children, Stephen 10, and Katherine 9.  Stephen studies piano with Nancy Wingard, (just like his dad!).  Stephen earned double superior ratings at the recent solo festival, and also wrestles—he placed 2nd in the state tournament in February!  Katherine studies piano with Dr. Margery Whatley.  She also received double superior ratings at the solo festival, and she won the Miss Sweetheart pageant in Trussville recently!  When not practicing piano, the family enjoys traveling, playing outside, and watching Idiotest or Looney Tunes together.
